Using the Edumate tools to enhance the School Vision

Using Edumate we are able to provide parents with access to their child’s progress in the academic and pastoral spheres, to allow parents to be aware of the demands on their children for assessment tasks and the results of their efforts, including school reports. This supports our desire for parents to work collaboratively with the school towards the goal of equipping their children to make a difference in the world.

The tools in Edumate have allowed the Principal to visit children in classrooms on their birthdays to let them know they are valued members of the community. Information on students with special needs is easily communicated to staff working in the classroom. Student absences can be effortlessly checked with parents via SMS linking, thus reducing issues of truancy. Staff with laptops in the classroom can mark rolls on the spot, and the student reception desk can record all attendances at the school sick bay. Student tracking develops a total student picture that is easily reviewed by the Pastoral team at the School so that reliable on-the-spot decisions can be made to support students and their families in academic decisions.

The Parent and Student Portals support the strong emphasis on co-operation between home and school by allowing active links so that families can maintain good access to important information relating to student well-being and to student’s academic requirements for lessons and assignments and to their progress, as well as the school calendar for important events.

The School vision of students maturing to be valuable contributors to the world around them and being active collaborators in their own learning is supported wonderfully by the Edumate database.

I am very happy with the support received from the Excido team. They follow up quickly on any problems we may be having and are keen to involve us in discussing future modules and enhancements.

I am particularly impressed with the reporting facilities within Edumate. It allows us to create and modify our academic reports quickly, we have full control over the appearance of the reports and it gives us the flexibility to create different report formats for our senior and junior school. Teaching staff have adapted to the new system quickly and like the ability to access the reports over the web. The system also allows us to meet all the new Federal requirements of reporting with ease.

There was nothing out of the box that would match our own teaching practices. We therefore needed a development platform that would give us what we wanted, along with basic functionality to meet administrative requirements from Day 1. Edumate gave us both and is excellent as a web based development platform.

On the occasions that we have had any issues (as we do when on the learning curve) Excido have been responsive every time. Their capacity to help and speed of response is outstanding.

As a dynamic product Edumate always seems to offer increasing capability and more functionality. As our needs grow so does Edumate.

Even the base product has more functionality than we currently use, but if we need something to match our specific organisational needs, the developers very quickly build it in.

It's important to us to work with people who understand the education world as well as the developers of Edumate do. They are also easy to work with.

I thought I would let you know how fantastic the Edumate portal is, and to commend you and your team on the vast amount of work that has gone into making the portal available to parents. It is just great to be able to be a bit more involved in the boys day to day life.

I'd just like to say that I think the Parent Portal is such a wonderful idea and I do hope that it gets the support from the parents that it deserves in order to reach its full potential. Once up and running I can see that the portal will provide
me with a widow of opportunity to better keep a track of how the kids are doing which is so good with such a busy schedule.
